Ronnie,

With 3 games played and one to go, I wanted to share with you my feelings about my first exposure to the Guilford Soccerfest. First off, my team and I have been having a really great time! Though I have never been at a Guilford Soccerfest before (my older three children are all boys), I have been to dozens of other Tournaments (Premier, Travel, Rec, the whole gammut). The thing that has stood out the most to me through three games is the refereeing. I don’t know how you go about assigning referees, but I have never seen this level of high quality officiating in ANY TOURNAMENT EVER. Even our less soccer literate parents have noted the unexpected quality of officiating. Kudos to the Tournament organizers for putting together a high-quality event and a special kudos to the referees I have had the pleasure of observing during these two days!!!

Thank you for all you have done to accommodate us,

Marty

Hi there,
My name is Pierre Drapeau, I’m the manager of the FC Challenger Rafales U15AA team from Mirabel , QC , Canada that participated in the 2008 Soccerferst. First, let me tell you that the players, coaches and parents were all very impressed by your organization. We were very well treated by everyone involved, including other teams we played against during the Tournament.
Competition was great, we met a good challenge but there was also a certain “je ne sais quoi” that lacks in other tournaments, it has to do with respect of the opponent and a sense of fair play.
We were also very impressed by the good quality of referees, they were the best we’ve seen in tournaments and they looked and sounded as if they were also enjoying themselves. Finally, we were not able to participate in the medal ceremony, because, as you’ve learned, our bus driver couldn’t be on duty for more than 14 hours, so we had to leave early. We would have loved to participate in the ceremony to salute your organization and the other teams one more time, but had to obey by the rules. Thanks again for a great tournament, and memories our team will cherish for a long time,

  Pierre Drapeau

Hi Ronnie,
Just a quick note to congratulate you and the Guilford Soccerfest committee on a great tournament. The girls had a great time. The area is fabulous, soccer was very good and we had an excellent family outing at the picnic. I usually take the team to an out of state tournament every year and we have gone from Niagara Fall, to Montreal to Long Island and to Gettysburg Pa and I can honestly say that Soccerfest ranks at the top of them all.
Thanks again and good luck

THANK YOU Soccerfest Committee
On behalf of the Wallingford Lightning and the Wallingford Youth Soccer League, I would like to say thanks to you and your Tournament Officials for an extremely positive experience at the 2008 Guilford Soccerfest. Our girls and parents enjoyed your event and had a fun weekend that went beyond just soccer. In all of the games, the atmosphere was one of both competitiveness and sportsmanship. Smiles from all participating teams (players and parents) were visible for the entire weekend.
Not only am I the manager of this team, I coach the U9 (to be U10) and I am also the Vice President of the Wallingford Youth Soccer League. That being said, you can expect many Wallingford teams to participate in your event in the years to come.
Please express our appreciation to the entire Soccerfest Committee for a job well done!
You can all now relax and enjoy the rest of your summer.

Kind Regards,
The Lightning

We want to thank all the wonderful citizens of Guilford for hosting a beautiful tournament. Our team, their siblings, and parents all had a great time. The entire weekend was perfectly organized, the referees were fair and informative, and every member of your staff made us feel like special guests. It was also nice to have those little breaks between games so we could sightsee around the town. It’s a lovely place with so many things to explore! This is a very special tournament.

Sincerely,

Hi Ronnie,
My name is NOT-DISPLAYED and I am the team manager for the Staten Island United Sol. We attended your tournament last weekend and I wanted to let you know what a great time we had! The tournament was extremely organized and the fields were in nice condition. It was nice that all the fields were close together and easy to get to. The picnic Saturday night was a lovely addition to a fun weekend as well!

Re: Thank YOU

Leslie,

I didn't get a chance to meet you as I was hoping.  We had a wonderful time at the tournament.  I also think that it was the one of the best run tournaments that we have been involved in.  From the day I sent in the application to our final game yesterday, I was impressed.  I really appreciated being able to register the team on Saturday morning.  It saved an additional trip to Guilford.  I was also very happy with the refs that we had for our games.  For our last game, the ref not only did a wonderful job, but he was very funny!  It seemed like he really wanted to be there.  Both the players and the parents responded well to him.

Thank you for all your work and the rest of your committee.  We loved the tournament and can't wait for next year!

From Coaches and Managers:

U.S. PARMA U16

Dear Tournament Directors,

On behalf of the Cranford U.S. PARMA U16 Girls Team (Players and Parents), I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to everyone involved in organizing and planning the 2006 Soccerfest.

Hands down, this event was one of the best tournaments I have ever been involved with as well as experiencing.

The fields were impeccable, the competition was excellent, and the organization and professionalism from all the volunteers was superb.

We walk away from this tournament with fond memories.  Thank you for allowing U.S. PARMA to be a part of the tournament.

I highly recommend this tournament to all Coaches.

I could not wait to get out an email to you and your committee regarding the tournament.  Let me first say that I have coached my girls under 13 team for over 4 years.  We have attended many many tournaments in NY, PA, and NJ.  This was by far the best run and organized tournament we have ever attended.  The organization was great, the officiating was very good, every single person who was part of your committee went out of their way to be nice to all of my parents and players.  I really couldn't believe how well we were treated over the last two days.  Although we finished in second in our age group, it didn't matter to my team or my parents.  They felt that they were treated to an incredible weekend.

As for the picnic, WOW, the location was great, the food was OUTSTANDING, the DJ was very good and my girls enjoyed dunking me over, and over again.  I just can't say enough about the tournament.

Let me end by saying that my parents and I drove close to 2 hours to attend the tournament, as I was walking off the field after the championship game, my parents said to me that it was a unanimous vote that we must come back next year.  So, please keep me on your list for next year so we can join your tournament again.

As for something to change, the only thing I would say is that I would try to find a hotel closer.  I had my team stay at the hotel recommended by the tournament (Four Points Sheraton in
Meriden).  It would have been nicer if we could have stayed closer to Guilford.  Since I didn't know the area, I just took the websites suggestion and booked my team at the Sheraton, but it was close to 40 minutes away.  Other than that, everyone on your committee should feel proud about the quality of tournament you hosted this past weekend.

Thanks,

From Parents:

parent from New Jersey (MOSA U-14)

Hello Bob & David,

I wanted to let you and all the folks that put this weekend's tournament together a great big COMPLIMENT on a wonderful soccer event.  I'm a parent from New Jersey (MOSA U-14) and I know for a fact that all the players and families had a wonderful time!

Everything from accommodations to playing fields, officiating, medical attention and competition was top notch and you all should be commended.  The Saturday night BBQ was especially fun and the girls were thrilled with their first place pink sweatshirts!  What a terrific alternative to trophies!

Again, thank you to all involved with the Soccerfest 2006!  We look forward to coming back next year!

Sincerely,
